A notice to all World Book Night U.S. book givers

If you registered by Feb. 1 to be a giver – and offered a good place to hand out your WBN editions - you should have received an email from us saying you’ll be a giver. If not, you might have blocked emails or mis-entered it back when. (And if you registered recently, an email is coming soon.) No worries! Everyone who deserves a box to celebrate this day will get one somehow; just bear with us. It’s our first year and we’ll figure this out together.

Mark your calendars – and follow us on Twitter! #wbnamerica - you will get another email in mid-Feb. on how to pick a location for getting your WBN box in April from a menu of approved bookstores and libraries. (You will have a week to respond; we’ll tweet the day before the email goes out).

Of note: we are doing our best to get everyone their first choices, but Hunger Games and Book Thief were way oversubscribed. If your 2nd or 3rd choice changes your location, no need to re-apply. We trust you. If you opt not to participate, we do understand, but hope you still will.

A notice to all World Book Night U.S. book givers

We need book-loving volunteers to fan out across America on April 23, 2012! Just take 20 free copies of a book to a location in your community, and you just might change someone's life. Please sign up by Feb. 6 EST at midnight.

The goal is to give books to new readers, to encourage reading, to share your passion for a great book. The entire publishing, bookstore, library, author, printing, and paper community is behind this effort with donated services and time.

The first World Book Night was held in the UK last year, and it was such a big success that it's spreading around the world! Please volunteer to be a book giver in the U.S. Sign up now to be a book giver.
